Fraction Number Battle

Players split a deck of cards and simultaneously flip over their top two cards, using the smaller number as the numerator. The greatest fraction wins all four cards. If the cards are equivalent, the cards are placed in a center pile. The next hand is played normally and the winner of the next fraction number battle takes the center pile as well.

Sum Fractions

** This is not a game, but rather an opportunity for students to work collaboratively and manipulate the problems.

In Groups of two, players work as a team to add fractions. Deal four cards and place them face up. Use the four cards to create two proper fractions. Students will use paper or a white board to find the common denominator, add the fractions and reduce the total to its simplest form.

Modification: Deal four cards and instead of adding the fractions you can subtract, multiply or divide the fractions.
