Never stop learning, because life never stops teaching.
- Lin Pernille
My name is Catherine Vessey and I teach at Beddington Heights School. I Graduated from Mount Royal University completing a Bachelor of Education with a minor in Humanities. Through my personal education I had some amazing teachers and as a teacher now I aspire to emulate them. Teaching inspires me through the excitement and wonderment of students.

My deep love for travel has led me to many different places and given me opportunities to learn about different places and cultures. In my third year of University, I completed a semester abroad at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia and spent several extra weeks exploring along the east coast, where I was living. After being in Australia, I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to Japan and Indonesia. I have also travelled to Ireland, Spain, France, England, the Netherlands, Mexico, and to several destinations within The United States. I am thankful to live in Canada, and have been from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island to Tofino, British Columbia to Dawson City, Yukon. While in Yukon, I worked at their annual Gold Show, another wonderful learning experience. With the Rocky Mountains in our back yard, I often enjoy a good hike or exploration.
In my spare time, I enjoy curling up and reading while enjoying the company of my pets. I especially love getting lost in a great book. For me, reading is a nice break from a busy day or a long week. Because everyone can enjoy reading, I hope to be able to transfer that love to my students.

I grew up dancing jazz, tap, ballet, modern, musical theatre, latin and ballroom. I still love to test my body, whether it’s by learning a new sport, going on a challenging hike or taking a yoga class. My time in Australia provided me with the opportunity to obtain my Advanced Scuba Diving certification. Through scuba diving I was able to test my body and explore the world in another way. The joy of being physical is something I hope I can pass along to my students.

I am interested in teaching students about the history of our country, and helping them to be proud Canadians. I am also interested in teaching them how to stay active in their everyday life and find enjoyment in sports. Because proper communication skills are a necessity for a successful life, I would like to invest my time in developing and helping all my students become highly literate, well rounded people. My goal as a teacher will be to understand each student and help each learn and develop. I understand that each child learns differently and has different needs, so I hope to evaluate my students and adapt my lessons accordingly. I want to be a respectful, empathetic teacher who remembers that not all student's circumstances are ideal.
